Why slow cookers cook hot today and older?
I bought my first crock pot last year, his a West Bend 6 qt. I quickly realized that the cooking of its contents very fast. I could make a roast and fill very near the top with the liquid and 3.5 to 4 hours, the liquid is almost gone. I tried other recipes and had the same thing happen. I did a search Internet and learned that others are experiencing the same problem, even with other brands such as Rival. Well, I do not need 6 qt since I only cook for me anyway, I bought a brand Hamilton Beach 3 qt pot. Before using it, I pulled out the instruction manual. He says that "… This slow cooker reaches operating temperature faster cooking and more cooking pots and so should reduce … "Or something to that effect. This is very frustrating. I ended up taking this one back. So, is it really a crock AKA "casserole" that cooks sold today Slow? My grandmother 30 years jalopy did an excellent job. Why not make them like it more?
