frozen egg noodles in a crock pot? Help convert my recipe?
I got a 6 qt slow cooker for Christmas, and I use for the first time. I am a plate (a thick soup, really) similar to Evans Chicken Noodle Bob, using frozen egg noodles Ream. When I cook the noodles on fire, they take about 35 minutes (barely) of boiling broth. Can you tell me how long they will need in slow cooker? Also, I use the chicken is already cooked and shredded … I should add, before the noodles, the noodles are made from, or put both at the same time? I do not want to take the lid any more than necessary. I know this is basic stuff enough, but I have not used a these things in a very, very long time. Some tips you could give me on how to use it, or favorite recipes or links to Web sites would be greatly appreciated! Thank you to everyone who answers!
Do not cook this dish in a crock pot! They are not good for cooking things that can be overcooked. Slow cookers are best for cooking things for a long time (for example, all day), and heat. They are good for braised meats, stews think, pot roasts, chili, soups that can not be overcooked. (See links below for sites with recipes.) If you to cook these ingredients in a crock pot, I check on the noodles after 50 minutes, then every 5-10 minutes to see if they are cooked. You do not want too Cook the noodles. (That's why I do not want to cook the noodles in a crock pot.) I'd throw in, shredded cooked chicken and mix after noodles are made. My recommendation for this dish: Follow the instructions and cook the noodles on the stove, remove from heat, add the chicken until the very end the chicken is heated through.
